DIY Gifts - Wrap up differently

For those who are bored with ribbons and bows, this is something new to try, it would require some planning but no cost and the preparation time is absolute worth. check my latest gift wrapping idea, the supplies I used were - blue chart paper, few dried leaves, flowers made with dried corn husk with pearl on top, glue, cello tape and a white paper ( I wrote the music notations of Bollywood Hindi song - Dil hai chhota sa).

I had no plan to post in here, so I did not take the pictures stepwise, but I got lot many appreciations for it, so just want to share it with you all.

You can personalise your gift by changing the paper type, leaf / flower used, pictures instead of music sheet or any other creative idea. Do share your gift wrapping picture with me.

DIY - Ganapati Aasan decoration

I have seen various beautiful and amazing decoration ideas that people have done for Ganapati Ji, before inviting them at home, but sometimes we may run out of time or resources. As I am going through right now, here is my quick and easy decoration idea that I am doing for this Chaturthi. Hope you and Ganapati bappa likes it.

Here are the steps to make this -

Materials required - Thermocol sheet, cutter, candle, sketch pen, thread / ribbon, cloth, decorative flower garland, gold / silver chain

Here is the procedure -

1. Take a thermocol sheet, take a piece of ribbon, and tie it with one end of the sketch pen, ribbon length should be the radius of the circle (as per the size of half circle). Take the other end of ribbon and mark the circle on the sheet.
Now heat the cutter slightly with the candle and cut the markings to take out the half circle sheet.

2. Now take a piece of cloth slightly bigger (width) then the thermocol circle radius, my length of cloth was almost 4 times the radius of circle.
Make small pleats in the cloth and stitch it to keep intact.

3. Take one corner of the cloth and fix it with all pins at one corner of the themocol, first fix the bottom side as shown in pictures.

4. Now start fixing all pleats one by one, starting from the top center.

4. This is how it looks when complete.

5. Similarly fix the cloth backside.

6. Its complete.

7. You can now decorate it with flowers or any other innovative ideas.

DIY - Ganesha Clay Idol (Eco Friendly)

O Lord Vinayaka. The remover of all obstacles, the son of Lord Shiva, with a form which is very short, with mouse as Thy vehicle, with sweet pudding in hand, with wide ears and long hanging trunk, I prostrate at Thy lotus-like Feet!

Ganesh Chaturthi - It’s that beautiful time of the year again. Very soon the city will be draped in a colorful collage of myriad hues and the swaying to the musical mantra of Ganpati Bappa Morya... To bound everyone together, by the same feelings of unity,  feelings of faith, devotion and love for the God - in a single thread of commonness…
Creating Ganesha Idol with our own hands is a delightful activity and satisfies our creative urge. Today I am sharing the tutorial to an make attractive idol of Lord Ganesha with Shadu clay.

DIY - Felt Cell Phone Cover

Here is my latest creation for my latest cell phone, It's a super simple felt cell phone cover that is done in just 3 steps, cut measure the felt, cut it and stitch. And it's done.

Here is the procedure looks like -
Material required -
Felt (paper or fabric not sure) sheets, scissors, cell phone, ruler or measuring tape, pencil / marker, sewing machine

1. Measure the Felt paper 1 cm larger than the dimensions of phone, all sides.

2. Cut as in picture.

3. Decorate the front side with anything like embroidery, or stickers or anything you like, or can leave it plain, that also looks good. I am always a fan of lord Krishna and their peacock feather, so I thought of doing this embroidery of the feather and flute.

4. Stitch the pieces as in picture.

And it's done.
Hope you like it.

Chakras Poster

Me.. You.. Us...
Nature, Human, Brain, Psychology, Mind - Body - Soul, What works how and Why?
Such are some of the questions and subjects I have grown up with... As much as I am learning new things and subjects, my area of interests and my questions, are increasing... I am still floating in an ocean of questions..
But there is something I want to share with you all, Our "Chakra System". Understanding our chakras helped me identifying the obstacles for our physical, psychological and emotional well being, it also helped in finding ways to overcome that, it helped me to realize what exactly the word "Peace" means, like how it feels to be in Peace...
I doubt I have enough skills to fully express myself in words, I think internet has already enough amount of information about Chakras, because I too have learnt from internet.
The key is to keep thinking about everything you read and try to related various information together. Some good sources, from where I learnt, are pinned on my Pinterest Borad "MySpiritual Being". For people really interested in opening up Chakras I would request to visit the same.
This is my watercolor poster on the Chakra System. I created this so that daily I can see all this information in one place, until they are absorbed inside. These colors really attracts, even my 6 yr daughter is interested in this poster and keeps me asking various questions 😊. I tried putting all my learning in a single picture.
Please save the image below to get a clear and complete view.
I am posting this in my blog, as a little contribution or a token of Thanks, to those who shared their knowledge on internet, so that people like me can understand and learn the Chakra system, to make our life better.
Thanks Internet and all the knowledge sources behind it.

Here are my Daily Gratitude and Chakra Affirmation Posters.

Tree House - Photo Frame with Waste Materials

It's been a long time I posted to the blog, we have recently shifted to a new city and life was quite a busy... But interesting... As I love new things...
My daughter is growing fast and so my art and craft ideas, this time we had to create a photo frame with waste materials, for her 1st grade school project.
Nothing can be more beautiful than your own creation.
So here is the Photo frame we created for my daughter -

Materials required - Cardboard, tint / color papers, scissors, pencil, eraser, glue, ice crème sticks.

Procedure -
1. Draw your design on cardboard and cut the base structure.

2. Cut color paper pieces as per design (as in pic). For tree I cut the base green paper that covers all the space, so that cardboard doesn't appear anywhere.

3. Arrange and cut ice creme sticks as required.

4. Start sticking with the base green paper.

5. Then trunk and branches.

6. Randomly stick green and yellow cloud shape papers to complete the tree.

7. Start sticking ice creme sticks for the house.

8. Now the basic tree house design is ready. Now you can personalize it with items of your choice.

9. I covered a plastic ring with thread to create the Tire swing, With a bead I created the Lamp. And with few sticks i created the rope ladder. Then we decorated it with some of my daughter's drawings.

This completes our tree house, what will you add in yours? I would love to see, please share with us...
