Map Of Memories – Handmade Greeting Card

Since collage time, I am a last minute person, I feel like all the great things happens at the last moment. In college days I used to stay awake for one or two nights before my exams, surprisingly, with that little study I was always in top 10 scorers :) but this is not recommended because today I forgot everything what I learnt during engineering :) Lucky me, that knowledge was not required in software field :)

And today, it was two days remaining for my marriage anniversary. Even after a month of search and brainstorming I could not find a perfect gift for my husband. I was thinking of all those beautiful days we spent together, and suddenly I got a thought of creating this Map of Memory Greeting Card.

After all, while gifting someone special, we don’t gift “objects” we gift “feelings”.

And what can be better than beautiful memories, something that one can see, recall and feel at the same time. So this is the final product –

Here are some guidelines that will help you creating your own –
1. List down all the places where you were together – like collage, restaurants, Coffee houses, workplace etc.
2. Include memorable events in your list - Like first meeting, collage days and internships, collage farewell, first date, date of proposal, engagement, marriage, first house, first car, first baby birth etc.
3. Include traveling experiences – waterfalls, hill stations, beaches, tracking etc.
4. Finalize your list by arranging the entries date wise.
5. Select a symbol for all the entries depending on their type. Like Symbol for Girl, Boy, kids, collage, workplace, house, hill stations, beaches etc. Here is small list that I had created for my map, hope it will help you. You can also find symbols in Google.

6. Now take a rough paper and start drawing from the first event, or say from the start of your love journey.
7. To give it a map like look I draw the mode of transport to connect between two entries. Like bike ride, train journey or by flight
8. I used bubbles to show our chat.
9. Now add a small caption like place name, date, event name etc.
10. And you are almost done, when you are satisfy with your rough map design, finally draw it with different colors.
11. Add a message inside the card.

12. Personalize your handmade card by adding you own mark.

That’s it…

I kept this card with a bunch of love coupons and red roses on his side table.
He got up in the morning, saw this, and loved everything about this gift. You will better understand this when you give it to someone and see their expression after getting it. Do try...
