Paper Mache Wind Chime

Wind Chimes… when ever this word comes in mind, I start hearing a sweet melodious shy music that can only be heard in silence. A song of wind in the voice of wind chimes. Now think of any hanging object like a suncatcher or a colorful chandelier, viewing them for few minutes is like a treat to your eyes. Simple white light spreading out in different colors.

This wind chime was my first paper mache project and I was a bit disappointed with the end result. I could not color it as my imagination. Also the boundary finish of flowers was not satisfactory. So I didn’t post this creation. But I learned many things that helped me creating my next projects Violin and Radha-KrishnaDolls.

Though it was not as expected, one thing I liked about this was the color change when the flower rotates. As it is made with newspaper, it very light in weight, so they keep rotating with little air. So when watching flowers, you see pink then yellow, small pink, big yellow, all pink, all yellow and several combinations. First I hanged it in my garden, later I created a garland and put it inside the house. Now I can watch it rotating all the time.

It is extremely simple to create, just make some flower shapes with paper mache, dry and color them, two different colors on two sides, now making a garland or a wind chime is of your choice. You can get the paper mache recipe here.

Love Coupons – A bunch of emotions…

Love or a relation, can be best explained as a plant. Every small seed contains a flower inside it.

Similarly love resides in everyone’s heart, and a right proportion of emotions can blossom it. For flowering a relation, Faith is the soil where a relation can be planted, Respect is the sunlight, Love and care works as drizzling water, and honesty protects it from insects.

A plant may grow even without the optimal mix of these, but will it flower? Similarly in a relation, over a long period of time, unknowingly, we may miss to nurture our relation with some of these emotions. So how it would be to gift a bunch of emotions on a special day? To nourish and flourish your love.

There can be different ways to express your special feeling, but I think gifting a bunch of love coupons is perfect.

I chose it as my anniversary gift. I respect all his sacrifices either its working hard for his family or switching channel from Cricket to cartoon, for my daughter. I admire his devotion to fulfill his responsibilities. And a lot of things that I could not tell him. So this anniversary I thought of gifting all those little things that he missed.

Here are my handmade love coupons and Map of Memories greeting card, get the guidelines here to create your own - Love Coupons Tutorial

Map Of Memories – Handmade Greeting Card

Since collage time, I am a last minute person, I feel like all the great things happens at the last moment. In college days I used to stay awake for one or two nights before my exams, surprisingly, with that little study I was always in top 10 scorers :) but this is not recommended because today I forgot everything what I learnt during engineering :) Lucky me, that knowledge was not required in software field :)

And today, it was two days remaining for my marriage anniversary. Even after a month of search and brainstorming I could not find a perfect gift for my husband. I was thinking of all those beautiful days we spent together, and suddenly I got a thought of creating this Map of Memory Greeting Card.

After all, while gifting someone special, we don’t gift “objects” we gift “feelings”.

And what can be better than beautiful memories, something that one can see, recall and feel at the same time. So this is the final product –

Here are some guidelines that will help you creating your own –
1. List down all the places where you were together – like collage, restaurants, Coffee houses, workplace etc.
2. Include memorable events in your list - Like first meeting, collage days and internships, collage farewell, first date, date of proposal, engagement, marriage, first house, first car, first baby birth etc.
3. Include traveling experiences – waterfalls, hill stations, beaches, tracking etc.
4. Finalize your list by arranging the entries date wise.
5. Select a symbol for all the entries depending on their type. Like Symbol for Girl, Boy, kids, collage, workplace, house, hill stations, beaches etc. Here is small list that I had created for my map, hope it will help you. You can also find symbols in Google.

6. Now take a rough paper and start drawing from the first event, or say from the start of your love journey.
7. To give it a map like look I draw the mode of transport to connect between two entries. Like bike ride, train journey or by flight
8. I used bubbles to show our chat.
9. Now add a small caption like place name, date, event name etc.
10. And you are almost done, when you are satisfy with your rough map design, finally draw it with different colors.
11. Add a message inside the card.

12. Personalize your handmade card by adding you own mark.

That’s it…

I kept this card with a bunch of love coupons and red roses on his side table.
He got up in the morning, saw this, and loved everything about this gift. You will better understand this when you give it to someone and see their expression after getting it. Do try...
