Music of Sadness

Like everything else… Pain… also has two sides... either you lose yourself Or take out your pain and create something that touches the world… Write it, sketch or make painting, create a piece of art, play games, dance, listen or play music… anything… Once you will find yourself again then you will be surprised with your creation… So enjoy life in happiness as well as in Pain.

House on Hills

Home.... It’s the laugh of a baby, the song of a mother and the strength of a father. A place to relax and watch the sun rising to fill your life with lots of light and love, a place surrounded with trees where a bird family lives with you and every morning wake you up with a sweet song…

Fisherman - Pressed Flower Art

In the rains that I first saw in my life
I set afloat a paper boat in playful mood
Don’t know in which river that water flowed into
Don’t know in which sea it has got lost in
Oh Fisherman…. Have you seen it?
The paper boat of my childhood days….
My first drawing book that I had got as a kid
The first poem that I had written
All those thousands of dreams that I had in my childhood days
Don’t know in which sea they have got lost in
On a sun-burnt evening
In the red waters of the Sea
There it goes filled with all my dreams
My paper boat....

Recycled Denim - Dice Poof

I had few old denims and pillows, that were not used anymore, so thought of recycling the denim and pillow cotton and creating this Dice poof.

Here are the steps to create this poof –

1. Take 3 denim, measure 18 inches from the bottom, and cut the leg section. By this you will get 6 leg sections.

2. Open the parallel stitching which joins the denim. Ensure that you open parallel stitching and not the single stitching line. By this you will get 6 square shape denims.

3.  As the leg section goes narrow at the bottom, these squares are not uniform (having equal sides). So mark the pieces and cut off 6 uniform squares (each 17”x 17”)

4. Now we will join 4 squares together to make a rectangle of 17”x 68” inches. Let’s keep the original parallel stitching of one square outside and the cut section inside while stitching. This was the hand stitching will not appear outside. Similarly join 4 squares together with each parallel stitch side + cut side.

5. Cut 21 circles of any cloth that matches the denim color you use. And stitch the circles to each square as in dice.

6. Once all the circles are stitched on the squares, stitch the two open 17” sides of the (17”x68”) rectangle to make a hollow cube. Then stitch a 17”x17” square at the bottom of the cube.

7. Fill the dice box with cotton or sponge and stitch the remaining 17”x17” square at the top of the cube. I used the cotton of some of my old pillows and some old soft cloths as stuffing.

Paper Decoration

At the time of my daughter’s first birthday, we wanted to have a simple and meaningful party. The thought was to have it like a “celebration” instead of having it as a “party”. We started planning so early and decided to bring all the things she enjoys in one place. We created everything that she loves to watch but gets very few occasions for it, like rainbow, butterflies etc and decorated the walls of the room. Next morning when she awakes… her joyful expressions and the excitement towards the decoration… made it a perfect start of celebration. She also enjoyed tearing off the decoration from the wall :)
In her 2nd birthday, we followed the tradition and created flowers, butterflies, birds, Sun and her favorite cartoon characters Dora, Boots and Doraemon.
Here are some pictures of the decoration.
These handmade party decorations are unique and inexpensive. After all, parties are meant to be fun. And this way we all (parents and baby) enjoyed the birthday for 2 weeks, we enjoyed creating these decorations, watching the baby’s reaction on the final decoration and the watching her tearing it off. :)

My daughter loves butterflies, so we decorated the pen stand box with the same, it was so fun creating this.

Sunrise

This is made with my memories of Kodaikanal, a beautiful hill station.
Usually I am not a morning person and just hate getting up early, but I also believe that sleeping is just a waste of time, so how could I lose a sunrise from those beautiful hills. The rising sun between the clouds and the crimson glory surrounding it, that was breathtaking beautiful. Hill views, cool wave of breeze, solitude and a cup of coffee, it was just a great spot for thinking about things and life.

Dry Rice Stem Flower Pot

I am quite recycle crazy at times and try to make things from some crazy materials! I can never bring myself to throw away the plastic container which are so popular food packaging material. To make this craft I used a plastic container, white glue and the dry rice stem that I got inside the box of my alphonso mango. I know that it sounds so crazy that I stored those dry rice stems from April to September :)

You just need to glue the container and wrap the stem around it. Its real tough to stick the stem to the container, because it does not stick easily. I had to hold is tight until the glue gets dry. Alternatively I wrapped my container (covered with rice stem) with a crepe bandage to keep it tight.

If I kept it on the table than my daughter would have removed all rice stems one by one, so i thought of hanging it.

The Ugly Duckling

One egg shell cracked, and then came a living creature that lifted its head and cried, “Peep, peep.” “Quack, quack”….. “How large the world is,” said the young duck, when they found how much more room they now had than while they were inside the egg-shell. “Do you imagine this is the whole world?” asked the mother; “Wait till you have seen the garden…..
A little duckling following her mother….

Mehandi Art

Mehandi, the best thing that I like about Mehandi is it’s fragrance. Before I used to take pictures of my Mehandi, but the fragrance was missing all the time. So I got this idea to create this art piece. I had created it 4 years before, at the time of my marriage, it was sent as the Mehandi invitation card cover to the Groom and his family. It feels awesome that still l can feel the mehandi fragrance in it. That refreshes my wedding time memories.

This is the easiest craft I have  made. Simply take a piece of handmade paper, make any picture / design, apply a thin layer of glue on the design and cover the drawing with Mehnadi (by Mehandi cone).

This paper can be used for writing any special letter, can be framed as a wall art or personalized cards can be created.
